Re: Peak time latency spikes

I rejoined PN last week after some years with Idnet with whom I had 80/20 fibre.  I only left because of cost  - the performance / support was excellent......  However since rejoining PN last week, apart from one dire night when my 78mb download slipped to 10mb, PN has been fine, except for the latency issues during peak times (I am currently on ptn-ag02 gateway):

NB  I was not using the internet at all during the peak time in the graph.
There seems to have been discussion about whether the problems lie within the PN, or the BT infrastructure, however the latency issues have only commenced for me when I joined PN, and Idnet make great play about having absolutely no contention within their own network.  My (simple?) conclusion is that the problem does lie within the PN network, and not BT as has been suggested.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Fine at the moment, I'm still on PCL-AG02.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Speeds alreay a little down:

Pingtest shows pings as being just fine as of now:

However, TBB graph is showing some high latency peaks already - have to see how it fares for the evening:

My current gateway is pcl-ag01, which has had mixed performance from what I have seen - fingers crossed  Undecided

ADSL2
Just browsing but RouterStatsLite has been having a fit from 4:30pm onwards
And its still on going... pinging only to ntp.plus.net
Using Exchange Checker its all green lights (last checked 8th Feb 2013)
Is there any other info you guys need?

*Edit* improvement at 7:30pm (see 3rd file)

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Performance has degraded significantly - 5Mb lost over usual speeds, pings up and TBB graph looking erratic. Still on pcl-ag01.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

ptw-ag02. still fine tonight

(speedtest done with iplayer streaming radio to squeezebox, probably explains the ping)

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I've gone from 65Mb down and 18Mb up to 8-10Mb down and 8-15Mb up this evening.
Ping has also gone from 5ms to 30ms+

Line speed is still 69.5Mb and I was getting a nice solid 65Mb download speed earlier.
*edit - getting slower .......

*edit - just found the gateway test tool after a bit of searching - about to kill my connection and reconnect ....... currently on  ptn-ag03

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi, new to forum but have been suffering low speeds in evening and back to normal in morning ever since unlimited was launched,
raised ticket but this problem was not mentioned in the reply from Plusnet.  Then saw this topic on forum.
tonight, was running at 1.6mb instead of 4.9, I was on pcl-ag01, disconn / reconn put me on plc-ag07 this dropped speed to 0.6mb  Embarrassed
disconn / reconn again to ptn-ag02 now back to 4.7MB. Smiley
I was told I could have a problem at my end, doesnt look like it
