phpbb2 problem

My account has cgi and php enabled, im trying to install a pphbb2 forum on my webspace, the site is
http://www.smashuk.free-online.co.uk/forums/install/install.php

as you can see it is not processing the php code.

i have uploaded this to both my webspace and cgi webserver.

but when the page opens it appears that the cgi is not working.

Please help

You need to install it to the CGI space so that the URL becomes

http://cgi.smashuk.free-online.co.uk/forums/install/install.php

The parser will then parse your code.

ok the first thing i would point out is that some users mistake the cgi-bin folder on the server for running php code, DO NOT put it in there, create a new directory in the root and upload everything in the phpBB2 folder to the new directory, then goto cgi.username.free-online.co.uk/newdirname/install/install.php this will then give u instructions on how to carry on.

Hope this helps

P.S. if ur still having trouble us the tutorial located at http://portal.free-online.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=699

You need to give a little more info m8, i know these may be stupid questions but it's the only way to get to the root of your problem.

1. have u activated the cgi webspace?
2. have you activated mysql?
3. are you uploading it to the cgi webspace?
4. can u give us a screenshot so we can see your directory structure?
5. what url are u typing in?

and anymore info will help, we should be able to get you there in the end, as i've just re-installed phpBB for about the 8th time, lol.

1. Yes
2. Yes, and setup a DB
3. Im uploading to the cgi server, outside to the cgi-bin with index on root now.
4. http://www.ffsource.com/images/screen.gif
5. http://cgi.stiggauk-freeonline.co.uk & http://cgi.ffsource.com (unsure which one works as i have a domain directing to my web space..

Thanks
Steven
