Don't own one, but from what I've heard it's very very good - only thing you need to be concerned about is the occasional moire that finds its way into the photos - but on the flip side, it means the photos are very sharp.

that really depends on your needs - i.e. if you need to take wideangle photos (say, of landscapes) you'll want to the 18-70, whereas if you want more zoom power, you'll want the 28-80.

BTW If you buy a D70 beffore the end of December & register it online, Nikon will give you vouchers worth over £300 cashback on Nikon Accessories details here. Just thought you might like to know that. Cheesy

That offer is, to be frank, rubbish - nowhere near as good as the straight £100 rebate that Canon are currently doing on their 300D!

Not if you want a D70 Wink

lol, which I personally do. Tongue However, the D70 is now several (2-3) hundred pounds more expensive than the rebated 300D, and all you get in return is something like £25 off a £450 lens - to make use of the full £300 off you'd end up needing to spend at least a couple of thousand pounds on accessories (IIRC).

I've seen the D70 advertised tthis week (claimed to be in stock) @ £650 with the zoom lens (here). I can't see anywhere doing the 300D kit for £450 or less.

As I am a Photography student, I have the oppertunity to get many models by Nikon, Olympus and Canon at half price.

I have been looking at the Olympus E300. Very nice.

Unfortunately tho, being a student, I have no spare cash! Oh well!

Yes, the 4/3 system shows a lot of promise... however, the E300 is only the second 4/3 camera to be released, and even then, it's still not available yet - so personally, I'd let it be tested by the "early adopters" first!

I personally think the best deal around atm is the Canon EOS-10D for £749... which is still too much for me. Sad

(Then again, if I had unlimited funds, I'd be whizzing out to buy a Fuji S3 Pro the day it comes out!)
