ftp'ing files to ccgi server

Not sure if it's just me, but when using dreamweaver to upload files to the ccgi site, I get "waiting for server" for quite a few of the bigger uploads. This is both in terms of file sizes and numbers of files.

I have narrowed this down to passive and active ftp, basically if one doesn't work, I switch it, and try again. It then seems to work OK.

Does anyone else have the same problem? What are the correct settings?

I always use passive.

(This means the data session is established from *my* system and the outgoing connection request is allowed by my firewall. With "active", the data session is established by the server -- Force9's system -- and my firewall would not allow an incoming connection request. It sounds like the same could be happening with you: the delay you experience results from waiting for the data session connection request from the server to timeout.)

I seem to get better results with passive, following the replacement of my router.

Are there any settings I can change myself in the software to force a quicker/slower timeout, and a more reliable connection?
