Yahoo slurp

Anyone else out there with a website?

Anyone looked at their logs recently?

I did this morning (as I usually do).

4200 errors - all from Yahoo. Its gone mad and is making requests for some very odd files:

74.6.68.38 - - [16/Mar/2007:07:44:08 +0000] "GET /tima/home.nsf/db458ff7f65b997a08256ce10001d685?OpenView&Grid=5&Date=1492-06-04 HTTP/1.0" 404 244 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp; http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp)"

I've contacted Yahoo and put the entire Inktomi and Yahoo search engine IP address ranges into my firewall deny list.

Hi Steve.
Nothing on my hosted site logs. Be interesting to hear what Yahoo have to say about it.

I'll keep you posted.

I know that Yahoo and all the other search engines do do gets for fiels that they know dont exist as a test that the site is "real" and not just serving up junk for every request but I've never seen anything like this before

Well it stopped about 2 hours after I'd emailed them.

Had no response from them ... apparently thats the norm for them
