War Of The Worlds ......... a real Classic.

I've just bought the CD cos the (Double) LP has just about given up the ghost.

Other LP Classics from my past include Rick Wakemans' "Journey To The Center Of The Earth " and Neil Diamonds "Taproot Manuscript".

I liked the "Theme" type albums.

I think my first 45 was "Daydream Believer" by the Monkeys.

Half a crown if I remember rightly.

The Beatles, "Get back" 6/8 1/2d (6 shillings and 8 and a half old pennies)
between 33p and 34p for you youngsters.

How daft was it to have
240 pennies to the pound
12 pennies to the shilling ( 1 bob or 2 tanners or 4 thruppennybits)
20 shillings to the pound
21 shillings to the guinea
30 pennies to the half crown (two and a kick)
60 pennies to the crown (5 bob)
24 pennies to the florin (2 bob)
10 florins to the pound (that one made sense)
2 shillings to the florin

Mind you, you could get 960 blackjacks / fruit salads for a quid
