I would recommend visiting the more well known search engines and filling in the relevant "Add Link" pages. I did it some time ago now, and my work paid off.

My visitors tend to come via Altavista, Yahoo, MSN and Lycos etc, but the best one seems to be Google.com

Little tip for you, put the following <META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="2 days"> in the Head tag of your main page (index.htm etc)
It makes the search engines scan through your site more often. Handy if you change the page frequently or you don't like the way search engines display your page.

Hope that helps,

Dave W.

It's important to bear in mind that some search engines (e.g. AltaVista) look at the META tags whilst others (e.g. Google, Lycos) rely on page content. The latter can be a problem if your site uses frames. There is a bit written about this on my own website at http://www.andperry.co.uk/techstuff/.

First visit http://www.submitplus.com/sitetest.htm and test your site. This will test load speed and meta contents as well as page title. Al vital to get in the top 10. Do not use frames Search engines don tlike them. Be sure your meta keywords are in your page. If you realy want to get top of the list sign up for loads of free ISp who give you webspace and upload you site to them all but refrence you links to your main site(this works well for google)the more links to your site the better. Reg your site with dmz.org as this provides list to most major search engines. Using these techniques I got a site to no1 in under 6 weeks
