SATA or SATA2?

I have decided to upgrade my hard drives, my PC has 4 SATA connections (2 NVidia 2 umm, SIS or Texas or something), but are SATA 150. Are SATA 2 drives backward compatible with 150, or would I need to fork out on a new motherboard?

SATA or SATA2?

Yes, SATA 2 drives are backwards compatible with the SATA 1 interface, it just means the SATA 2 drive will transfer data at 150 MB/s (half speed) and not the full 300MB/s of the specification.

Regards, Colin.
