install vnc onto to your pc
http://www.tightvnc.com/

setup your router to forward port 5900 to your pc and 5800 if you want to use the webinterface.

install vnc on the other machine and connect to your ip address or point you browser to the ip address and all should work.

I have it setup on my machine and I have dlink 504 so if you have any problems I will be happy to provide more details.

-----------------
I would suggest not opening port 5800 and not enabling the web interface. Reason being this port shows up in a port scan, where as the standard VNC port does not. If you have XP Pro, you could try the Remote Desktop feature, though it's not as efficient as VNC if your connection isn't so quick at the other end.

RE: Remote access

Sorry about being a couple of days late with the info but here it is

1. Login to your router via the web interface
2. Configuration section
3. Port Redirection section
4. Add new redirect
5. internet port = 5900 or whatever vnc is running on
local port = 5900 or whatever vnc is running on
Protocol = TCP
Local computer = ipaddress of machine running vnc
6. save the changes and restart your router

Once you have done these you should be able to vnc onto your machine (much celebration and rejoicing Smiley
