Stop The Pop Up's

Hello,

I have tried several pop-up stopping programs (freebee software) some good and some abit limited. I am currently using a free pop up stopper program which I can highly recommend to you if your intrested:- URL for stop the pop up program. Its small & very very easy to use and extremely effective and the website even allows you to test the program is working correctly. Its great for a pop up free life!!

A word of warning about Spyware Blaster

Hi woodviews,

Yep! agree with you about FIreFox Browser I downloaded a copy and have been testing it, I would happily recommend this browser as a high quality alternative to MS IE6.

**HOWEVER A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT SPYWARE BLASTER!!
It is my direct experience that Spyware Blaster is useless and it fails to work completely when it really matters i.e. when your system is attacked or attempted software try's to install itself. On several occations SB failed miserably to stop a number of spyware programs getting into my system. Fortunately I was on the case extremely quickly and was physically able to remove the offending files and adaware found the other files and registry keys that had been installed.

Therefore based on my own experience I wouldnt put ANY trust is spyware blaster, it may lull you into a false sense of security. Finally SB takes up physical space on your HDD and memory resources, so its even more of a waste. I removed SB after the third failure and instead have locked down my OS services and IE6 settings and have had no problems since.

Dont trust Spyware Blaster to protect your system, it sounds great but doesnt work when it matters most. Tweaking your OS and IE6 settings is a far more reliable approach.

Pop Up Blockers

i use it inconjuction with spybot search & destroy - i also use adaware which blocks a lot of stuff

as for spyware blaster I agree its only works when you run the scan and doesnt really stop anything, another program I have used for trojans anti-labs ghostbusters which was given away free by pcformat

Pop Up Blockers

Assuming you're running XP, service pack 2 does the job nicely, plus introduces a load of devices that stop alot of spy/malware getting in.

Don't worry too much about all the hype that it breaks stuff. Most issues are firewall related and easy to sort out. There really is very little that the home user needs to worry about, providing they have a moderate spec machine.

hmmmm

Just use Firefox, it's a billion times more secure for a start, and the popup blocker "works"
