Pointing domain name

I have partially transferred in a domain name for use with a site which is currently on the crofters server. I used the "contact us" facility first to ensure that crofters could host the domain name and was told it would not be a problem. Upon entering the "website settings" portion of the portal to configure the domain, I find my only option is to configure it to work on the homepages server. I know the domain can point to crofters, but how?

Cheers

To start off with you only get http://www.domain.co.uk etc.
You need to activate CGI in website settings. This takes a day or so.
You will then have http://cgi.username.domain.f9.co.uk or something like that.
You will need need to raise a ticket in the customer support to get the http://cgi.domain.co.uk set up.

I have cgi, have had for years and have been using too. I know the address will be www.something.me.uk but the site is hosted on crofters. I need to get the domain hosted on crofters, you will see I have already contaced CS via contact us and got the rather plain answer of "Once a domain name is hosted with us, you can setup a manual DNS record to point your domain name to our cgi server". Which brings me back to my original question of how do I do this?

Is this not where the Setting Up Domain Records tutorial comes in? (For crofters, you may still need customer support to do some work, but I think that may be explained in the tutorial.)

Cheers Task, it would seem that CS have done that for me, although in the DNS records it shows as cgi.force9.net instead of criticalmass. Now to find out if I can point it to a specific folder on crofters like you can on homepages. I seem to recall Ian saying it couldn't be done though Sad

criticalmass is the PlusNet cgi server platform, like crofters is the Force9 one.

You can't point to sub-folders yet, but if you read the announcement then you will see it will become possible after the rebuild.
