Not enough room at the exchange

A friend of mine recently moved house to a city location.

At his previous address he had ISDN and wants to upgrade to ADSL.

He contacted his ISP and was given a date for the upgarde etc

That date came and went and still no boradband so he rang their customer services.

He was told that, according to BT, he wouldn't be able to get broadband as the exhange was full and he would have to wait for someone already on broadbrand to cancel their connection.

Personally, I think this sounds like utter rubbish. I was under the impression that if you had a BT phone line and your exhange was boradband enabled then you could get ADSL (assuming line quality etc was ok)

Can anyone confirmt that his ISP is telling the truth?Huh

Not enough room at the exchange

Hi

The ISP will no doubt be telling the truth , the exchange could well be full.

Get your friend to do a check at

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php

enter his phone number there and postcode, the checker will then tell you if the line is capable of adsl,

You can then click the link for the exchange information ( BT ADSL ) this will tell you if there is capacity at your exchange for further ADSL connections.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Ian
