New EU Language announced

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will
be
the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was
the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English
spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in
plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will make
the sivil servants jump with joy.

The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up
konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the
troublesome "ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like
fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to
reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always
ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the languag is
disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with
"z" and "w"with "v".

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining
"ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu
understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze
forst plas.

My yawn was not a derogatory remark, it was a statement of fact.

The original post, however, is most certainly derogatory and possibly even racist.

The initial post was cut & pasted from another forum & I found it amusing, Its sad that people can read 'racism ' etc. into such things & I can ony imagine that similar
thoughts led to some of the wonderful books by Enid Blyton being removed from bookshelves.

I agree that its sad that some people can read racism into things which aren't intended that way - hence me saying it was possibly racist.

As I recall , you initiated the 'racist ' element in your second post which followed your somewhat 'derogatory ' first post.

I do not want to persue this pointless arguement any further & hope you will do the same

This was my second post:

I repeat - I said possibly racist, I did not say it is racist. There is a difference.

The element I introduced was saying the original post is possibly racist. I did not "initiate the racist element".

Making jokes about cultures, countries, and people groups requires careful consideration as it can easily be seen as offensive and racist. Certainly, your original post is derogatory, potentially offensive, and potentially racist.

Hmm, This tread has gone off topic and is becoming argumentative. The original post was written in humour and does not appear to have been created to cause offense or anger by other posters. If users do have problem with a joke or a post for any reason there are ways and means of going about it and some of what has been seen in this post are far from good examples of this.

Thread locked, lets move on.

I agree, and it has not caused me any offense or anger. I was just saying that other people may find it offensive or racist.

I have one already, thank you for your concern.
