Networking And Security

Going broadband. Concerned about security. It appears I can't allow access to specified files on XP machine without sharing C. I believe this is not wise with an always on connection.

If I share C but don't allow others to change my files will this protect all but the fully shared files?

Network is through hub.

Also, any guidance on security with this type of network would be helpful

RE: Networking And Security

People on the network are the only people who will be able to access your files on C, people on the internet do not have the same access rights. If you still think it's not safe put a password on the folder you want to share! Or even have a firewall and onyl allow access to set IP's such as the one's on your network!
