Linking Web Pages

Hello - me again.

I'm starting to get the hang of this caper now.

I've used the Web Wizard to create two pages
Page 1 is called index
Page 2 is called page2

I'm trying to set hyperlink from 1->2

I've tried various URLs for the link but none seem to work.

I thought it would be http://www/htdocs/stereocatbabies/page2.html

Help.

You use the url (web address), so in your example it would be:
http://www.stereocatbabies.co.uk/page2.html

However, you can simplify this by just using the page name (page2.html) - this is a 'good thing' as the browser will automatically pre-pend the current web address and path.

If you're looking at the 'raw' html source, you might see this as follows:

<A href="index.html">home</A> <A href="news.html">news</A>

This code snipet will produce 2 words home and news with links to different pages.

It looks like the www.stereocatbabies.co.uk site is not being directed to your /htdocs/stereocatbabies directory. Has anything changed in the Domain Names settings on the F9 portal?

Using http://www.dougiec.force9.co.uk/stereocatbabies and http://www.dougiec.force9.co.uk/stereocatbabies/page2.html seems to work.

What I was saying earlier about just using the filename of the page (page2.html) would have been useful here. Pointing your browser at http://www.dougiec.force9.co.uk/stereocatbabies would display the stereocatbabies homepage (index.html). Hovering the pointer over the 'Band History' currently shows http://www.stereocatbabies.co.uk/page2.html in the browser status bar (at the bottom of the page). If you had put just page2.html for the link, then http://www.dougiec.force9.co.uk/stereocatbabies/page2.html would be shown in you accessed the home page as http://www.dougiec.force9.co.uk/stereocatbabies, or as http://www.stereocatbabies.co.uk/page2.html when using http://www.stereocatbabies.co.uk.
