Just starting out with CGI

Hello, I just enabled my CGI and MySQL stuff, I have managed to upload scripts to the CGI section but I am asked to point to a database...

I do know where to go to setup a database but how do you set it up to function witha phpbb2 forum script? I mean what fields or names and values must one use ?

Reading the instructions from the hotscipts.com looks so easy but putting it to pratice is so hard and confusing... Help PLEASe Cry

Thanks

Well phpBB2 does actually come with its own installer that will set up the database for you. Any problems you should check out the official site http://www.phpbb.com

I'm just thinking about putting phpBB up on my own site. Can I take it from your reply to the previous question that there isn't any reason it shouldn't run ok on force9?

RE: Just starting out with CGI

Don't know about version 2.x, but version 1.x definitely worked when I tried it out last year. The reason I mention this when I tried to install Invision Board last year it failed as the installer required the use of some SQL DROP statements, and being lazy I couldn't be bothered to alter the installer. However since F9 launched the new CGI platform and upgraded the MySQL server I have no idea if DROPs are allowed. So in other words depending on what phpBB2s installer does, you may need to do some editing. But the 1.x branch installs fine, if you have no luck with 2.
