Host Website at home

Hi

I have registered a .co.uk domain name with Plusnet.
mydomain.co.uk. I would like to host this domain at home.

When i ping www.mydomain.co.uk it resolves to 212.159.8.1.

I have added an additional DNS entry

www.mydomain.co.uk a x.x.x.x (my ip)

and set domain hosting setting to other.

Does anyone know if I will need to do anything else?

My router is set to forward HTTP requests to my PC.

Thanks Inderpal

RE: Host Website at home

While I intend to do this myself, I havn't yet registered a domain.

From what I can make out, that is all you would need to do.

Note, you will likely find, that your router will not allow you to browse your site, due to the way TCP/IP works.

Aditionaly, you will find it may take up to 24 hours before it all becomes operational. THis is due to DNS cache expiring, and the +Net scripts doing there jobs.

I forgot to mention 212.159.8.1 is not my static IP.

212.159.8.1 is the IP for regd.plus.net

I set it around a week ago, so it has had enough to propogate its change.

HMMM.

Perhaps more appropriate elsewhere but "Where you can discuss just about anything under the sun - well, almost!" ;-)

Sorry, my point was that if you had asked in the PlusNet forum I could have answered your question :-)
