Hi Stuart,
I think this is possible using either CGI scripting or perl scripts (although I have never tried this myself a friend of mine did and it seemed to work well). Have a look at Matt's Script achive for suitable coding/scripts.

**Stay away from Frontpage its crap, it's typical microsoft and puts its own code into pages without telling you and you have no!idea why its doing this.
Be very wise stick with dreamweaver its a much much better quality package.

Regards
Ivan

Check out http://www.invisionboard.com quite frankly the best free PHP forum software, just copy it to your cgi space and go. If that doesn't work I've a feeling the installer won't run as F9 still doesn't allow users to drop their own tables via SQL (why oh why?) then also check out http://www.ikonboard.com which offers a perl version (this looks very similar to invisionboard as programmers left ikonboard to form invisionboard). Finally probably one of the simplest forums out there (thats also free) is phpbb2 (http://www.phpbb.com). This is php based and can be used on f9 cgi servers, and also has the great benefit that it can be easily added to a Postnuke site.
