Changing start numbers on CGI counters

This must have been discussed before. I have just transferred a website from another ISP and wish to continue counting where I left off.

How can I change the counter file?

Raise a ticket and ask CS. Not sure if they can add a value but I know they can zero it.

Tech Support say...

If the script is mine, I can change a text file but if the script is theirs, no change can be made!

Hmm, things have changed then. It is a while since I used their script but it was always possible to have the value changed at one time. Of course, the other option is to ativate your cgi and host your own? They are reasonably easy to set up once you get the hang of it.

Yes, I'm beginning to come to that conclusion. Having seen F9's CGI capability and offer, I just assumed it might be more flexible.

No matter, I'll look into making my own. It is a shame to lose over 47,000 hits!

Take a look at http://www.chami.com/counter/classic/

Its a good'n and the start value can be set. I used it to carryover my total when I set up my f9 sites.
