I have a VERY wierd 'thing' growing in my garden, with only being my first summer here I have not noticed it before, if someone could perhaps identify it please,

Looks like asparagus, though it seems to have taken a hammering from the wind and cold.

Pretty ugly looking organisms. I'd say kill them, you never know they could be baby triffids!

Your mystery plant is a horsetail (Equisetum). Probably Equisetum arvense. Have a look here:

Yeah, I found out on a gardening forum, its a weed apparently, with HUGE roots, have been recommended to use gypsophosphate mixed with a bit of wallpaper paste, thankfully there are in an area they wont spread from, push comes to shove, I will just pour some Shell optimax over them lol, I know I wont be able to grow in that area again, but I dont mind that!
