CGI URL problem

Hi - I need a little starter help. I've got a custom cgi script I've edited, activated our CGI space and uploaded it I think.

The instructions from free-online seem a bit contradictory. To upload I've FTPd to http://cgi.free-online.co.uk using my username/password and placed the file in cgi-bin/ - this is as per the FAQ.

However, the email sent to me upon activation has all sorts of different stuff in it...

http://cgi.username.free-online.co.uk
homedirectory /files/home2/username

I'm having difficulty equating these two bits of info - I cannot seem to call the script. Sad

Someone help me with kick-off please!

Ta, Ken.

ok, from what i'm gettin from ur post is u've uploaded to cgi.free-online.net and put ur file in the cgi-bin directory?

ur link to ur newly uploaded file would be http://cgi.username.free-online.co.uk/cgi-bin/scriptname.cgi

if it's a php type file, i would ftp in to cgi.free-online.net and create a new directory, then upload ur file into there.

ur link to the newly uploaded file would be http://cgi.username.free-online.co.uk/dirname/scriptname.php

hope this helps

CGI URL problem

Thanks Platty - to be honest that's the URL I tried but no luck. Also the Free-Online FAQ says that all cgi files should be suffixed .pl - don't know if that makes any difference.

It may be that the script is making assumptions about the location of something called CGI.pm ...

#!/usr/bin/perl -w
use CGI;

Huh

Cheers, Ken.
