Experience so far

I've been a busy little bunny already!
After finally hitting the right RADIUS / gateway, things are running seamlessly.
Using Plusnet-supplied TG582n.
MAJOR ISSUE:
Screenshot - http://olorin.me/ul/ss/2013_01_30_21_21_48.jpg
Can only reproduce this issue on BBC, nothing else. Tried all kinds of sites that I know take different routes but it's just BBC affected.
- DNS - no issues, as expected. Can use Plusnet-provided and external without problems.
- FTP outbound working, obviously inbound servers won't work Wink
- L2TP working, encrypted and unencrypted, no issues or drops
- General browsing - ran link crawlers, hit 15k domains - no problems
- YouTube, Netflix, Lovefilm, YouView, iPlayer, 4oD, ITV Player, Demand Five all working (no Sky, can't test Sky Go)
- Can download from file sharing sites (i.e. Rapidshare, Uploaded.net etc) but obviously will be a problem when coming from single shared IP with many users, same experience on mobile networks via proxies
- Skype, MSN, AIM, IRC, Google Talk, Jabber all working
- POP3 & IMAP working
- Spotify, Grooveshark, Last.fm streaming working
- Windows Updates working
- Minecraft and various other silly similar games working
- TeamViewer working, inbound and outbound
More updates to follow.

Re: Experience so far

Ok, the "major issue" I have confirmed is your config on/with ae2.pcl-cr01.plus.net. Using non CG-NATted Plusnet connection is fine. You broke it! Smiley

Re: Experience so far

Problem with VoIP.
When CG-NATted, SIP registration works fine and I can receive / make calls - at least, the phones ring. However, when I pick up no audio is sent or received in the calls. No clue what is going on there!
EDIT:
I lied. SIP registration is fine, no issues.
I can dial out, and phones ring on inbound VoIP call.
No matter whether I make or receive the call, I cannot hear the other end, BUT the other end can hear me. My audio is sent and can be heard, I cannot hear the other person.

Re: Experience so far

PPTP does not work. L2TP is fine, PPTP won't establish a connection. Does it require a service helper on the gateway?

Are you using the outbound proxy ?
My initial thoughts were that I expected it to work when using that, but probably not without it. When using the proxy  the connection to the proxy is 'kept alive' and so it ought to be possible for the NAT to maintain the mappings. I'm hopefully going to give voip a try this weekend on the test account, so will report my findings.

Re: Experience so far

I had the no outbound audio last night at the same time with no outbound audio, this wasn't behind CG Nat.

What IRC server did you connect to because I had problems?
My Plusnet VoIP worked fine with two-way audio when I tried on Monday night? (CSipSimple on a Samsung Galaxy S2) Not tried a third party provider yet. I notice Gradwell had some problems yesterday evening.

Are you saying you're getting packet loss beyond that core router? I notice you've provided pingplots to both bbc.co.uk and oneprovider.com? Does this happen with all hosts? Is it affecting your ability to browse the Internet etc.?

I connected to various - Freenode, irc.z.je, trueirc.net and so on without any issues. Just reconfirmed as fully working again tonight.

I use Voipfone and Dial9 accounts. I have a SNOM, a Cisco SPA112 and Jitsi softphones - all of which suffer the same problem. Inbound audio cannot be heard, outbound is fine. Sounds like you need to activate a SIP service / ALG?

Yes, packet loss starting at and beyond that router, in weird almost symmetrical patterns. It's like only part of your network is speaking to the new CG-NAT config.
This is actually a confusing one the more I look in to it.
Yesterday I was only aware of the ae2.pcl-cr01.plus.net router causing issues with dropped packets. Now, there's various accross your network. Note the same problem occurs, but not exactly the same pattern or timing on these. Pingplots ahoy:

Re: Experience so far

I have Plusnet and Sipgate VoIP accounts registered on my Gigaset N300IP and both seem fine with two way audio on incoming and outgoing calls.

Really? That's bizarre!
Maybe... just maybe, I have an answer. I don't know if SIP ALG is enabled/disabled on my local router. I'll go check now. I don't actually use VoIP natively over the connection, I use it over L2TP bond so I wouldn't have noticed until now. Let me check!

Okay, so here's something. I fixed the VoIP issue. At least on the TG582n's, SIP ALG must be ENABLED for VoIP to work (enabled by default). If the user has disabled SIP ALG (some VoIP providers advise it to be disabled to mitigate any issues it may cause) then VoIP will fail to work properly when CG-NATted. Since the TG58* range all share a common codebase I'd expect to see the same results.
Recap, SIP ALG must be enabled when CG-NATted to allow VoIP to work.

Re: Experience so far

I'm using a Netgear DG834 and it seems to work whether the SIP ALG is on or off. I'll test it again over the weekend when I get more time to play.

I wonder if that's because you're only registering one SIP account and I'm registering multiples?  Huh

I'll have another play over the weekend. I have two Sipgate accounts and one Plusnet one, but all registered on the same phone.

It's already enabled.

I'm not personally at home this weekend but we'll see if we can replicate this. Out of interest, how is your local network set up and what kit are you using? Anyone else seen anything similar?
Edit: I've been reliably informed that we've already raised this issue will our vendor, so it will be interesting to see what they come back with ...
