Wires Only

Hi
An Open Question to thoes in the know.
Some time ago there was talk of a ISP being able to supply adsl on wire only circuites (no voice)?
is this still something to come or has BTw squashed the idea.
Thankyou

Re: Wires Only

Hi there,
What you're referring to is something called Naked DSL.
I've had a bit of a scootle on google for it, but I haven't found any real details of any timescales when it might be offered.  I'll try asking around to see if anyone else has any further information.

Re: Wires Only

Hi Guys
Just out curiosity what advantage would Naked DSL offer over what is available now

Re: Wires Only

It's probably a good idea to point out that this probably wont happen in the next two years.

After doing some googling my curiosity has somewhat diminished.

Re: Wires Only

Going back to the good old days, about twenty years ago?  we had a data line only from our office to the main site 30 mile away! Roll_eyes Cool  no sure what the speed was but it was faster than teletype.

Re: Wires Only

We are actually trialling naked dsl on the Partner Progamme
The costs involved are the PSTN install price, normal ADSL activation, product costs and a monthly PSTN line rental. The customers have call barring applied thus making the line adsl use only. This has proved to offer massive benefit where the business needs an additional line for say IP PBX solutions whereby the PBX is seperate to the day to day online activities of the business.
We cannot offer this to standard business customers yet as we dont have the product bulit to sell it, however if demand is sufficient then we can look to deliver this as a solution in the future.
I'd be massively interested in ascertaining demand from existing customers.
PS I got an email via the forum from a guy called Daniel regarding Partner. Unfortunately you didnt leave contact details. If you read this Daniel, drop me a PM and I'll get back to you.
