 please improve, and now even the members centre is down for maintenance. Yet status green all except for email

Things did not improve this morning in the Norfolk East area served  by the Thorpe Exchange 

Even after restarting the router, I only get 9.6 Mbps download speed on broadband unlimited.

Come on PlusNet, you can do this.

We are sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with your speed, and welcome to the forums. I have checked your connection and it is not highlighting any potential external faults.

 

However I can see that your speed is just below your lowest estimated speed. We would need you to locate your test socket and set up your equipment in there without any extension cabling. You can find help here, on how to locate your test socket.

 

Once in your test socket, please can you run a speed test on a device connected by Ethernet on www.speedtest.btwholesale.com while disabling all devices connected via wireless.

More a WiFi problem?

Hi Sammy

good to hear there are no obvious faults with my line.

All my previous tests were run over WiFi.  So,  I tested again, this time connected to LAN. WiFi speeds fluctuated wildly, but overall several times slower then LAN with  download slower than uploads

over LAN >66Mbps

All tests today  run on same machine. The picture was the same yesterday as this morning. Yesterday's WiFi tests  with MacBook and with iPad. Both connected to 5GHz WiFi.

I will follow your test advise later.

Thank you for providing this information.

Could you try the steps below in changing your wireless channel. I would also recommend downloading a free wifi analyzer to check the most unused channel in your area.

1) To connect to your Hub One, you will need to open a browser and go to http://192.168.1.254

2) Go to your 'Advanced Settings' page, you will need to change the settings within the 2.4 GHz Wireless tab and the 5 GHz Wireless tab.

3) Under the correct heading, you will need to find 'Channel Selection' on the list and change this from 'Automatic' to any one of the other channels, This can also need doing under '5 GHz Wireless' to cover both signals.

If the speed is fluctuating over Ethernet, when you have run the BT wholesale speed test click further diagnostics and enter your telephone number. Once complete, run the diagnostics to send this information to our server.
