Change to 0870 numbers

I've just been reminded by our service provider that OFCOM are changing the way that NTS numbers such as 0870 work. It is expected that as of summer 2009 OFCOM will introduce the changes so that 0870 numbers will cease to generate revenue, efectively rendering them useless.
Are PN planning to change our fax 2 mail numbers to the more lucrative 0871 numbers?  And, if so, when are they going to let us know?
Anyone heard anything?

Nope, nothing at all.
As far as I'm concerned, Fax2Email is no longer for sale and as a general rule, we don't make changes to any of our legacy services.

Re: Change to 0870 numbers

Can you still confirm this is the case? I believe Plus Net will get charged every time someone sends a fax to me from July 31st 2009.
See: http://www.0870changes.info/
Obviously I have my fax number on business cards/websites etc, so it'd be good if you could make sure.

Re: Change to 0870 numbers

Hi Foxy
It is certainly the case that owners of 0870 numbers will be charged a minimum of 2p (charges yet to be defined) for call delivery from 1 August 2009.
(My company has migrated all the 0870 numbers that were provided to us by our telecomms provider to 0871 numbers.)
When we first went to PlusNet I used fax2mail for a departmental fax number, and we have never changed it.
So long as PlusNet don't suddenly withdraw these numbers from use (and mine was still working yesterday), who are we to worry?! Wink
