Can't move my business phone number due to different exchange!

I've been told that i can't move my business number due to a different exchange. It's in the same area code 0151.  Is this a Plusnet problem or the general norm?

I'm afraid this is an infrastructure issue, if you compare your full new address and existing address into the BT Broadband Availability Checker Here, are the exchanges different?

0151 is Liverpool and surrounding area, comprising dozens of exchanges.

The chances of moving and staying on the same exchange are slim.

@munros if you cant transfer the number then have a look at voip or virtual landline https://www.virtuallandline.co.uk/how-does-it-work

You can port your existing number in to these services , just dont cancel it before you do!.

Once you've got your existing number on ond of these services you can move anywhere and still keep it
