We have about 30 small business accounts, that we use for student residences. Some of them are now having their bandwidth squashed (500kbps) between 4pm and Midnight - due to excessive usage. The story from Plusnet is that the the traffic isn't that of a "normal" business and is costing them money to support the utilisation. The accounts did start off on domestic accounts, but we were advised by Plusnet to move to the small business as that had un-limited downloads.
The annoying thing about this is that we had no prior warning from Plusnet that they were restricting the bandwidth. We were chasing this for weeks on end with their support analysts, when all along the back end were employing traffic shaping! It's made our relationship with the building occupiers *very difficult* as it's been going on for so long and disrupting their studies.
What is and where is the fair usage policy written for the small business account.
We may need to wire the properties to the campus network if we can't get decent performance 24/7.
