It looks like Ofcom has tired of BT OpenReach's poor delivery on timeliness of installations for leased data lines. It is proposing to open BT's fibre network to competitor to allow them to run services over dark fibre to businesses. This is a £2 Billion market. Hopefully there'll be a knock-on effect on the business broadband market too.
The
consultation ends 31st July 2015 with decisions next spring.
