will my current line speed update itself

hi all, my broadband speed has been a bit wayward recently, probably down to bt dicking around as i had a really bad crossed line a few months ago. it has settled down again with the dsl connection rate back to 8128 but the ip profile / line speed is still at 6500 when its normally 7150 i have attached the bt speed test. and wondered if this resets itself or if pn needs to do it.
cheers

Re: will my current line speed update itself

Hi Andy,
If those connection speeds hold, your IP profile should pick upto 7150Kbps again.

Re: will my current line speed update itself

cheers james, good to see you are still on board
slightly different question, how do we know when 20mb will coming to a particlular area, not that i have an unhealthy obsession with broad band speed or anything

Hi Andy,
You can get a rough idea from http://samknows.com
It's not the gospel though, and BT upgrades are subject to change.

Re: will my current line speed update itself

me again, my bt speed test shows my ip profile back to 7150 and has been stable for a day or so, how long dioes it take for my pn line speed to increase as its still at 6500 and in the past i think it was reset manually
many thanks

Re: will my current line speed update itself

are you talking profile or line speed, with a profile of 7150 (synch 8128) the max line speed is 6000-6500 depending on time of day,  PN ZProfile is here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed that normally update within 24 hrs at about 10 in the morning

Re: will my current line speed update itself

oh balls, its back down again, the dsl connection rate is now 7808 and the ip profile is 6500, is this something at my end as it was solid as a rock for months maybe even years at 8128/7150. i did have the power go off just after pn updated to 7150 at their end and wondered if that up set it but it just seems all over the place recently
is theree other tests i can run to see whats going on
cheers

Re:will my current line speed update itself

Hi Martin,
Could you have possibly had interleaving turned on?  That sync speed you are getting now could suggest that it has.
Are you still seeing similar issues?

Re: will my current line speed update itself

hi James, how do i tell if interelaving is on, also just did a namesco check and the ping was 229 but the speed was 4100, but it still feels sluggish when using the web
