Re: why has my speed suddenly dropped

i reset my router after half hour of having banding lifted just done another speedtest and still only gettin download speed of 1943 when i checked bt broadband checker it said my ip profile is set to 2000 here are my dsl router stats DSL synchronization status Up
DSL up time 07:16:00

Line Status  Help

Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 446
Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 15349
Line standard ADSL2+
Channel type  Interleaved
Upstream SNR (dB)  26
Downstream SNR (dB)  9.7
Upstream interleave depth 8
Downstream interleave depth 64
Upstream line attenuation (dB) 7.1
Downstream line attenuation (dB) 12
Upstream output power (dBmV) 11.5
Downstream output power (dBmV) 19.5
Upstream CRC  0
Downstream CRC  0
Upstream FEC  4999
Downstream FEC  968

as you can see much higher than earlier for downstream line rate so how do i get my ip profile lifted to match the sppeds that my line is capable of getting or do i just haveto sit and wait for bt to raise the profile and if so how long does that normaly take

Just to add my 2 pence here for anyone else reading, it will only take 5 days if your increase is <8%
250%  and  3100% = 4 hours
40% and 250% = 12 hours
20% and 40% = 24 hours
15% and 20%  = 48 hours
10% and 15% = 72 hours
8% and 10%  = 96 hours
0% and 8% = 120 hours
Previously your IP profile would be amended within 75 mins for a decrease in sync speed, or after 3 days for an increase in sync speed. Obviously this arrangement wasn't always the best solution since it could take several days to recover from one bad sync period such as during a thunderstorm.
With effect from Aug 2007, BT will introduce "Adaptive Max Logic" which will replace both the 3 day system and Blip logic. This should be of benefit to those who have suffered from an unusually low sync, although smaller increases will take a bit longer.
(info from kitz.co.uk)
so this old school "please wait 72 hours (3 days) is no longer relevent.

Re: why has my speed suddenly dropped

these are the results from the bt checker Download speedachieved during the test was - 819 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 800-2000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 2000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 11.39:34.05:54.56 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

If you wish to discuss these results please contact your ISP.
If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your ISP for assistance.
Your test has completed please close this window to exit the performance tester.

Re: why has my speed suddenly dropped

Will it let you totally blank the timeout instead of entering 0 which you do on most routers?

Re: why has my speed suddenly dropped

Hi gerryhall,
The line has been banded again straight away due to those disconnections. If I have it removed again you have to promise me that you won't reboot the router until there's been some degree of stability, even if we have to wait for your profile to lift.

Hi gerryhall,
Ok, I'll contact our suppliers now and ask for that to be changed. I'll let you know when it's done.
