why has my line speed been trashed down again?

why has my line speed been trashed down again?
now down to 2500 rather than the 10000 or so it's been for weeks?
maybe i have a rain issue on the line somewhere?
is this real or a glitch and can i get bt to look at if it is real?
cheers

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

If your speed has dropped from 10MBits to 2.5MBits it could indicate a problem. Do you still get a sync rate of 10000? If your line glitched to 2500 for a few hours it could have reset your throughput profile in which case it could take several days of stable connection for your speed to pick up again.

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

if you can post your line stats and what your BT an PN profiles are, we can start to get a picture of your line

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

this is what the bt speed test cam up with, sadly my profile is locking me down still... 😞
Download speedachieved during the test was - 2602 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :9205 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1181 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 7.57:25.79:66.64 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

Hi bluewhale,
It looks like your connection might be dropping intermittently, have you noticed any disconnections while using the service at all? I'd recommend testing with the router in the master socket and all your other phones unplugged from the line, if it's still dropping then you should raise us a fault at http://faults.plus.net so we can investigate it for you.

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

yes i can see the adsl being dropped, but the phone has been perfect
and nothing has changed in my house and for that matter with the weather outside
hate having to raise a ticket as it'll be a run around for days 😞
ho hum.....

I can almost guarantee that the first thing the response on the ticket will ask for is for you to plug the router in to the test socket with no other equipment connected as Matt recommended. Have you done that?

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

Hi Bluewhale,
I'll reply to your ticket in a second, but it's really important that you do try to test from the test socket as this will eliminate your internal wiring being the cause of the problem.

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

is there any point to that as the router is at the max of the band and ok, the disconnects will be me getting impatient 🙂
the annoying thing is that plusnet profile is at 3500 even though i'm connecting at 6000 and so would imagine bt reflects that
takes days ( it seems ) for plusnet to reflect new rate...so no chance of speed getting increased ( without me getting impatient :-))
will the router connect at speeds out of the band? can we force the band higher?
it isn't practical to have the router into the socket for long as would have no phone then?
cheers

Re: why has my line speed been trashed down again?

I'll answer your questions when you've answered mine Smiley
Are you in the test socket yet?
Your profile hasn't updated because you've had so many disconnections.
