why does my internet keep slowing down to ridicilous speeds at night?

hi all. been having a lot of trouble with my broadband lately and the customer support havent been much help as everything they have tried has failed. just did a speed test now and i got these results.

the last message i got from the customer support was "I have carried out a test on your line which indicate that there are some errors which are the most likely cause of the variable speed issue you have seen.
To fix this I have turned on a system called interleaving, which should correct the errors and solve the issue with your speed."
whatever they have tried hasnt fixed anything and its making it impossible to play any games online. has anyone got any ideas what i can do? if not can anyone recommend another bb that doesnt use the same service as plusnet? thanx

on the troubleshooting part on this site the Bt wholesale availability checker shows: your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a fixed line speed up to 2mbs.
our test indicates that your line currently supports an estimated ADSL max broadband line speed of 7mbs; typically the line speed would range between 6mbs and 8mbs.
A test on the bt wholesale link shows a download speed of 0.58mbs.

stay here for a while. at least the forum team are very supportive.
I faced the ridiculous speed as well, less than 0.3M (that is only half of your speed), even cannot open a webpage. How dare to think about the online game?
I am waiting for the response from the moderators. Maybe they can solve my problem. Finger cross!

yeh mine has been as low as that 2. all the replys ive had from the support team hasnt helped much and they keep saying i should see an improvement within 72 hours etc. this has been going on for a few weeks now and still isnt resolved. i was also getting a lot of disconnections but that hasnt happened for a few days

Two things we need to check
Please run the BT speedtest http://speedtester.bt.com/ and report the results - the IP profile is important
Please advise the Current Line Speed from https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
Just to add
Your default noise margin appears to have increased to 15dB which is badly affecting your sync speed (nothing to do with the speed test result)
Can you also describe your house wiring - do you have a modern master socket and is it possible to connect the router to the test socket. I am not suggesting that you do it yet

ive just been to my dads house about a mile away and he is also on plusnet and experiencing the same slow speeds

It looks like congestion at your exchange is the likely cause of your (and your dad's) low speeds. Does the problem occur throughout the day or just in the evening?
Most likely Plusnet will contact BT about congestion after picking up this thread in the morning.

i only tend to use the pc in the evenings when i get home from work but its been slow like this now for about a month. just checked the speed now its better but still not as high as i usually get http://www.speedtest.net/result/1874296676.png

I can't see anything obvious causing that but I can see the poor speed test on our systems. I'll get one of our faults team to pick this up for you.

its already been reported to the faults team and theyve been no help. its obviously not a problem with my hardware as my dad has similar speeds and he lives a mile away. has to be either plusnet or bt. but im going to be cancelling my package before the next bill if it continues as its been like this for a few weeks now
