websites crawling and images not loading

I can't get facebook, but everything else I try is working 
edit:  just seen the Service Status -- why don't I always go there first?

I'm also having problems but not with BBC which loads immediately, Yahoo and Hotmail take ages and then open on a blank page, others very slow but some no problem, Jack.

Also being discussed here.  Maybe a mod should lock one or the other?

For me, the problem looks like it might have been resolved.  Certainly, some web-sites that weren't accessible earlier, now are fine.

FWIW -- I've managed to log in to facebook using the Realplayer browser (!), and to get the title from the home page, but access is still seizing up on this line:

Pages loading is absolute rubbish today ,,waiting forever for ..uk yahoo.. to load ...also got super high ping 401

I have just gone in on Orange (using a moblie phone modem link) and updated AVG 8 without any problem.
Through PN, I have been trying for hours to get the 137KB update.
It is obviously a PN problem.

Yes - everything was fine a short time. Now sites are inaccessible again.

80 - 90% of website are painfully slow here for me too...
Oh, and don't start me on the 200 odd spam "Delivery Failure" emails I've just suddenly got today.

Everything was fine at 7 this morning when there would have been little or no UK traffic but as the morning got on everything stopped. Traffic must have dropped down around 4 allowing us in for half an hour, The report that somebody on Zen was experiencing similar problems would imply that what is happening is not down to PN.

Well, looks like things are finally getting back to normal
Sites are now accessable again, a little slow at first but working
