Re: very slow speed

From the test socket your speed is better but only because of the reduced noise margin.
As you surmise there is something badly wrong with your connection as you should be getting speeds in excess of 4,000kbps
Can you try another filter and cable to the router
At this stage you need to follow through with the fault report as the results don't give any real indication of the cause of the problem

DSL Type: G.992.1 annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448 / 1,088

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 16.0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 29.5 / 52.0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 18.0 / 6.5
thats all you'll get,
it was around 1 meg before at 52 dB attenuation? with Sky  (LLU?)

good luck.

Re: very slow speed

do you know how you were connected to Sky?
if as been hinted several times, you will not get the same connection on a plain ADSL line
LLU is where the ISP has its own equipment in the exchange and can give you higher speeds
Your exchange is 21CN WBC (Broadband)  Enabled 21.03.09 but with a synch speed of 1000, unless you have been capped you cant expect any higher

Re: very slow speed

what package are you on?  you cant connect 21CN on value, but you can on the other two, from your BT test, you are not on 21CN, that is if you didnt leave a load of funny numbers off the last line

Re: very slow speed

Ah I read more carefully, 2.72km direct
3.38km by road,
actually youre line is going to greater often much greater that the road milage,
as rule of thumb suggests :something like ( [ SQU ROOT 2 ] *  direct ) ++ fiddle factor of (up poles /down ducts) metres
===tend to suggest your getting whats right for line length, given whats said otherwise about LLU capabilities.
if still seeing much less that 1000 line it could be profiles still low after the discontinuity.
a few days maybe
await adjustment,
report here - your PN line speed profile at:
https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
and figures that come back after

Re: very slow speed

At risk of repeating myself.
This is not ADSL2+ with banded profiles.
This is not an IP profile problem it is a basic sync speed problem.
It is standard ADSL and the sync speed is controlled by the attenuation and noise margin. Forget about distance it is irrelevant.
With an attenuation of 52dB and a default noise margin of 6dB you should be getting sync speeds in excess of 4000kbps. The fact that you are only getting a speed of just over 1000kbps means that there is a fault on the line which the standard fault report testing may show up. Even if it doesn't it is going to need a fault reporting to BTw to get it sorted.

Re: very slow speed

You have to raise it through http://faults.plus.net - Plusnet will then investigate and raise with BT.
Jim is a Plusnet user the same as you. Only the people who have this image below their name are Plusnet staff:

Re: very slow speed

He has already Smiley
Dpoole, would you mind rebooting your router for me?  I'm curious as to whether or not it would make a noted improvement in speed?  Looking at your line profile I was expecting to see a number of disconnections, of which there have been a few, albeit not in the last 24 hours.
