Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

If you posted the Help Desk info as requested then we can see what has changed.

Are you sure the Hub One is rebooting or is it actually just dropping the DSL connection?

Can you capture the event log for the time of the failure then it can be determined if this is a reboot or just a DSL resync

From the Hub One landing screen >Troubleshooting >Event Log >Click category and select WAN.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

sorry if i am therefore misunderstanding, but what is the difference between the two? when this has happened on the rare occasion during the day, the router lites go out, the blue light disappears and eventually comes back as orange, taking 2 mins or so to get back to the blue light. i have to admit that to me this is the router rebooting. if i am wrong in my assumption, i can only apologise. as to the info you've requested, i again assume i can only see and therefore copy the info that is showing atm. i'll look and see but will post what i can get. having looked at the info, i have to say there is something that i dont understand and that is where it says at the bottommost entry about 'User Request' considering i was fast asleep at the time, i have to wonder how i made any request of anything to do anything? sorry if i'm being thick again

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

User request doesn’t necessarily mean a human.

Can you please set router stats running 24x7 and leave it running … and provide the information requested … the help desk stats.

Something is causing the DLM to manage the line for stability. This is not going to be addressed until the source of the interface is profiled.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

was the info i just posted as asked for by Dan_the_Van not correct then? can i not give what was asked for?

again, my misunderstanding about 'manage' the. i've said to plusnet about this many times before but always ignored. at least Townman, you seem to understand what i meant, so tnx for that.

i have added a bit more info hoping it's what you want. if it isn't, explain what you want and i'll do what i can

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

forgot to add that, as i said, downstream snr started at 7.7db yesterday and after the 2am reboot, it dropped to just over 6. as it is atm, according to routerstatslite, it's down to 5.5db. as i have said previously, this drop happens every evening but it doesn't always start next day or go back next day to where it needs to be at 6+db. whatever causes the snr to fall away seems to be a problem but, in my opinion, when the router reboots or the connection drops, as Dan_the_Van suggests, the downstream snr always seems to drop too low. that then causes the further evening snr drops that dont improve sufficiently the next day until eventually, the snr drops too low and a reboot/connection loss happens and away we go again! this has been going on seemingly forever, regardless of what O/S i was using and what machine i was using.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

dont know if this screenshot from routerstatslite, like the others i posted, is any help but thought i'd add it anyway. it shows how the downstream snr is/has dropped. wish i knew why. note when the drop started, ie, no boiler on, no street lights come on, my tv, speaker bar and freesat box been on since 14:30. microwave used once from 14:30ish for under 5mins. i'm at a loss

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

@prettygrim49

From a technical point of view a reboot is a stop/start of a device, with the Hub One unless you see a green light on the device during the sequence of change it has not rebooted.

01:48:05, 02 Jul. (1861829.110000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request] - Link Control Protocol

01:48:08, 02 Jul. (1861832.170000) PTM over DSL is down after 2209 minutes uptime

01:48:08, 02 Jul. (1861832.170000) at this point the Hub system uptime is around 21 days 12 hours (1861832 seconds)

DSL is down after 2209 minutes uptime this is around 36 hours

What is occurring are DSL restarts. Repeated reboots would be investigated differently.

NB

The router uptime on the RouterStats app is the DSL uptime not system uptime

Don't forget to change the sampling to every 10 seconds with 720 plotted points.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

Well @jab1 that's the million dollar question.

In the past when I suffered these issues routerstats was the clue to the answer, hopefully now the OP will leave it running 24 hours a day.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

OK, but to my mind, if the xDSL is failing, for whatever reason, but the Hub is not rebooting, that would be my guess, based on my unfortunate experiences whilst with Tiscali/TT/Plusnet. Agree that leaving RS running is a very good idea.

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

i appreciate you're trying to give me needed information so that i can give needed information. i would gladly, willingly do so if i knew how to do, where to do what you want. you say: Don't forget to change the sampling to every 10 seconds with 720 plotted points.

this i would do if i knew how/where to do so. i'm sorry for not understanding what you want. is this in routerstatslite? i assume it is but dont know where to change it. if it's in the router stats themselves, i still dont know where to change things. please bear in mind that i haven't done this change before. also remember that every question is easy when you know the answer. help me by giving more instructions please and i'll then do my best to help. i'll look at the post again in a little while. gotta do some shopping as in hospital again 2moro

Re: using my own TP-Link 2100 router

@prettygrim49 the sampling interval/plot is done in RSLite. I'll leave it to @Dan_the_Van  / @Townman to give the details as I haven't set it up for a long time, and no longer use it.

I've not used it for quite a while myself, but did @Dan_the_Van, not give those instructions back in post #35?
