Hi,
Our cabinet was upgraded to 21CN about a month or 2 ago and we're now syncing at a stonking 13-14Mbps down on ADSL2+ (previously ADSLMax). I recently (Friday) asked for the upload to be uncapped. This was apparently actioned on Friday and told should take 24hrs to see change - nothing over the weekend. Further chat on monday morning and again was told upstream speed had been reset and wait 4 hrs. Still nothing. The line is and has been stable for several years, no issues with downloads, but would be nice to get more upload speed. I don't know if the IP profile is still stuck on ADSLMax or something?
Any ideas or help appreciated.
Thanks - S
My router stats below (Archer VR900):
Line Status: Connected
DSL Modulation Type: ADSL_2plus
Annex Type: Annex A/L/M
Upstream Downstream
Current Rate(kbps) 445 13647
Max Rate(kbps) 1168 14044
SNR Margin(dB) 32.1 6.5
Line Attenuation(dB) 15.5 28.5
Errors(pkts) 0 28
Ignore any disconnections since last Friday - all due to reboots at my end trying to see the upload uncap...
BT speedtest gives:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 11.68 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4 Mbps-21 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 12.04 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.23Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Well that's strange...I spoke to someone on chat yesterday, but I definitely have not spoken to anyone today...
In any case - the upload speed still appears to be syncing at 448, just as it has always been. Tried a reboot this afternoon and no difference. Current router stats below:
Upstream | Downstream | |
---|---|---|
Current Rate(kbps) | 445 | 13595 |
Max Rate(kbps) | 1216 | 13932 |
SNR Margin(dB) | 30.8 | 6.4 |
Line Attenuation(dB) | 15.6 | 28.5 |
Errors(pkts) | 0 | 36 |

Well, that looks to have improved things overnight - upstream sync is definitely better now. Thank you. I notice the upstream SNRM is much lower than it has been (previously has been 30dB+), and the max upstream sync speed has now dropped about 25% (it was previously pretty consistently around 1200). Is there anything more I can do to eke a bit more out of the upstream? I do quite a bit of syncing/backup to cloud and sharing of photos with people overseas, so upload speed at my end makes a big difference for all that.
Upstream | Downstream | |
---|---|---|
Current Rate(kbps) | 939 | 13607 |
Max Rate(kbps) | 924 | 13664 |
SNR Margin(dB) | 5.3 | 6.1 |
Line Attenuation(dB) | 15.6 | 28.5 |
Errors(pkts) | 0 | 0 |

Thanks for the suggestion, haven't tried the test socket since the cabinet was upgraded...Unfortunately, it isn't practical to leave the router plugged into the test (or even master) socket, but I will give it a try over the weekend.
I'm definitely seeing more instability than usual during today. The upstream SNR margin is varying quite a lot (between 1dB and 11dB; while typing this it's been between 2.3dB and 7.7dB), and I notice there have been a few disconnections this morning. Downstream SNR seems stable. I understand uncapping the upload may well result in instability, so I'll keep monitoring over the next few days because I'd prefer to maintain the very stable line we have.

Hi - @Gandalf thanks for all the help, I'm definitely noticing the instability at this end, I keep waiting for the DLM to kick in and start reducing the IP profile! Modem is currently connected to the test socket. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to leave it connected to the test socket, as the master socket location means I the rest of my internal network is disconnected.
Let's wait and see...

I've figured out a way to leave the router plugged into the test socket (why is the master socket never fitted anywhere near a power socket???), where it has been now since about 5pm on Saturday. I've not seen any disconnections since then, and line stats seem to be holding well. I'll leave it there so you can run tests whenever suits. Definitely seems better and stable (so far).
Upstream | Downstream | |
---|---|---|
Current Rate(kbps) | 928 | 15796 |
Max Rate(kbps) | 1220 | 16472 |
SNR Margin(dB) | 16.3 | 6.8 |
Line Attenuation(dB) | 15.6 | 28 |
Errors(pkts) | 27 | 1042 |

if your sync rate is improved in the test socket, it looks as though your internal wiring may be playing a big part.
The connection looks a bit unstable on Saturday but since then it's been stable.
