upload speed slow again

hi,
from time to time my upload speed drops to 120-250 kbps from the usual 350 ish. my connection stats are still 8128/448 and my download is always solid at around 6-7 mbps.
i have rebooted my router a couple of times which sometimes fixes it, but it seems stuck this time....
i have posted a few times beofre but couldnt find the posts. Sad
any ideas??
thanks

Re: upload speed slow again

How are you connected to the router, wired or wireless? What router do you have?

Re: upload speed slow again

Does the lower speed come after a reconnect or can it drop while you have a steady connection?
Are you using firmware 2.1.00.54?

Re: upload speed slow again

hi jelv,
you seemed to have worked your magic again,  i upgraded the firmware and it seems to be fine again.
its odd, i dont really pay so much attention to my connection speeds as i used to when i had time to play online games but from time to time i check my speed and its usuallyy the upload speed has dropped to around the 250 mark but the connection has been solid for weeks if not months and the download is always rock solid. i am still on your way pro which is always good anytime of the day or night.
if it happens again i will have to remember to check the firmware
thanks mate

Is your exchange still Market 1?

i was once tempted but dealing with the sales girl on the phone was like talking to the gestapo

Re: upload speed slow again

Your exchange is Market 2.
Switch to Extra making sure that it says the price is £11.49 which is the correct price for Extra on Market 2/3 exchanges. Then when that completes on your next billing date add the Pro add-on (cost £5/month). You will get exactly the same speeds as at present, a 60GB allowance and your total cost will be reduced to £16.49. You might want to try Extra for a few days without the add-on to see if you really need it and save yourself an extra £5 - the add-on can be added at any time and takes immediate effect.

Re: upload speed slow again

thats really good info, i have always been worried about moving away from my old legacy package as they are no longer available. i pay £20/mth at the moment and was worried that i couldnt get back to the no throttling at busy times option.
i think sky also offer a similar LLU package now which is potentially faster also totally umlimited it says at £7.50/mth, but again i have always been sceptical about their broadband claims
i'll look into the plusnet option though
thanks very much for your help and advice
