unable to send emails: avasout-peh-002 smtp ESMTP server not available (blacklisted by local policy)

Like me, my brother is a longtime Plusnet BB user.

He uses Thunderbird for his email, sending his emails to relay.plus.net. This has worked for ages, but today has stopped working, giving the following error:

Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: avasout-peh-002 smtp ESMTP server not available (blacklisted by local policy)

According to a previous thread on here (https://community.plus.net/t5/Tech-Help-Software-Hardware-etc/ESMTP-server-not-available-blacklisted...) it suggests his (plusnet provided!) IP is blacklisted by the Plusnet SMTP server!

I have his account details, and his IP address: can anyone out there fix this, please?

update: just used a couple of online IP blacklist checkers, and can see 2 blacklisting sites that have blacklisted the IP... I guess Plusnet must use one of them!

I used that high-tech "telephone" thing 🙂 and spoke with support earlier today, hopefully they can fix it soon

So, over a week on. I called them, then called them again, was promised a call back yesterday, but nothing. The IP is apparently still blacklised by the Plusnet email server.

In the meantime, I set up my brother's email with a Mailjet account (if only because I already had it, and could easily add his domain to it), and he can now send emails, bypassing the plusnet server.

Because the call was apparently 'passed up th chain, there's no open ticket where I can post relevant details (like the full text of the error message)

Not very impressed....

It seems that this has finally been fixed! Trying to send mail is no longer being blocked!

(in the meantime, I set my brother up to use my Mailjet account to send his emails)
