tg582n speed drop

about a month or so ago my speeds have dropped from around 1MBps which was ok(ish) to watch catchup TV to 0.72Mb which means I now cannot watch anything on catchup without at least 3 or 4 long pauses per 30 min programme - extremely annoying.
I have run the wholesale Bt speed test and it confirms 0.72/0.33Mb down/up with 43.63ms ping.
router is reporting
Uptime: 11 days, 22:18:57

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,5 / 15,6
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 31,5 / 57,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12,0 / 10,2

Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / IFTN

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 809 / 10.598
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 472 / 43
HEC Errors (Up/Down): -72 / 43 / 56
I have not changed anything this end all cables remain plugged in where they used to be, can anyone offer any suggestions as to why the speed has dropped so much.
Also anything I can do - other than change ISP that will help get it going faster.
Thanks
Ian

Re: tg582n speed drop

Your speed should probably be around 2-3 Mbit anyway, this is mine with similar attenuation:
[tt]US Connection Rate:    882    DS Connection Rate:    3763
DS Line Attenuation:    57.8    DS Margin:              6.0
US Line Attenuation:    36.2    US Margin:              4.2[/tt]
Did you mean "from around 1Mbps" - so your speeds have dropped by 25% ?

Re: tg582n speed drop

yup it dropped about 25% which makes catchup TV a real pain, plus the better half is getting fed up waiting watching the bufer reload on the Tv and giving me a right ear bending about it.
also makes working from home slow which is frustrating.

Re: tg582n speed drop

Hi there,
If the router's already in the master socket and everything else plugged into the line (phones, sky boxes etc) is done so through a filter, raise a fault to us at http://faults.plus.net - your line should certainly be performing better than it is, and if there's no interference in your premises from wiring or unfiltered devices then we'll get it escalated and looked into for you.
