struggling to connect to certain sites

Why am i having problems getting on certain sites?  we have networking set up in the house and we cannot get on certtain sites on any of the computers.  We cannot get on Photobucket or paypal and i use these sites alot, there are many other links that will not load.  What is the problem

it might be worth trying a traceroute first to see if there is a problem with routing to certain hosts. explanation and instructions here:
