What time was that speedtest run? Have you tried rebooting your router and retesting?
Our network is looking rather unbalanced right now, which is pointing towards some of our gateways being "busier" than others.

I ran the two speedtests one after the other at 1057 ish, I have now rebooted my router and got the following result
I have found that this has been happening alot over the last week or so sometime quick during day and sometimes really really bad. I will continue to monitor and add speedtests if gets unusable again.
Could my router be at fault needing to be restarted all the time

No - It's not your router at fault.
Looking at our network this morning, it's not well balanced. that means that we have more people connecting to some of our gateways than others, which means that some are seeing poorer speed.
No doubt Jelv will be along shortly to point out that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Strange, I just spoke to support (Sheffield number) who assured me there were no network problems despite my connection running at under 1M since 8am this morning and from 2pm yesterday afternoon to about 3am this morning.
Had similar problems at the weekend, full line speed Saturday morning then down to 100-400K for most of Saturday then dropping to 100-200K for Saturdau night and all of Sunday, coming back up to 300K at 3am Monday morning, after that rose to line speed until about 1:30pm then dropped back to 250K (normal as on Unlimited).
Absolutely nothing wrong with my equipment or line, not exchange congestion either as I have 2 lines and the other on TitanADSL using O-Bits backbone is running at 7.3M.
Here's a BT speedtest from about 10 mins ago
Download speedachieved during the test was - 771 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
I have tried resetting the PPOA sesion and central hopping but no difference.

I suspect that the call centre thought that you were referring to connectivity issues, when you were talking about network issues.

Now if only BT had gone ahead with session steering!
As I see it the problem gets worse as you get more and more centrals, the chances of hitting one of the underused centrals when attempting to "gateway hop" are reduced. It's worse now that there are multiple centrals on some of the gateways.

Valid point - That's just whilst we wait on a firmware fix on one of our newer gateways though. It's not a permanent measure.

Maybe, but that doesn't help with the poor speeds.
