speed unacceptable

Hi guy's my first post think its in the right place?
Have been with plusnet for many years no problem, suddenly my connection speed has dropped to an unacceptable level.
My normal connection is 4.5 to 5.0 Mb/sec however the last two day's download is registering 0.1mb/sec and upoad 0.07mb/sec.
I have taken several readings using plusnet's own speed test and others all report virually the same pathetic levels; however the BT test shows speeds that are normal? my router shows that the speeds are normal?

System Up Time 05:23:44
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 182189 140053 0 4470 7774 02:18:59
LAN 10M/100M 239262 361131 0 4727 3696 05:23:39
WLAN 11M/54M 49180 47819 0 2009 558 05:23:29

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5472 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 47 db 15 db
Noise Margin 6 db 21 db

So thinking its my gear that might be at fault
I have connected direct to the test socket in the master ,used another router,is the same on all pc's?
Lost now as to what i can check?
Any advice would be appreciated
regards

Re: speed unacceptable

Hi there,
Sorry to hear you're having problems.
Looks like you've got an intermittent connection fault, which will have an impact on your speed.
I see you've got a fault logged, which our team will pick up and raise to BT as necessary.

Re: speed unacceptable

Thanks for your reply the fault  isn't an intermittant problem, the speed issue suddenly dropped to the unacceptable level and has remained at this level.
I have logged a fault obviously ;but was seeking advice from other members if there were  anything else i could try to resolve this issue at my end

Re: speed unacceptable

I've just had a look at your account and you haven't actually got a fault, you've reached the usage allowance on your product.
You can buy extra usage if you need it either in advance or as you use it by using the 'Control my broadband' section in the member centre at www.plus.net

Re: speed unacceptable

Ummm Thanks for your response I thought  the limit was 20g? Fair comment, having looked at my usage yes you are correct.
I have not received any emails that my limit had been exceeded, why was i not told my usage had been reached and this was why my speed was dropped when i first logged the fault?
can i assume that the speed level will return when my next month begins?
Thanks clarifying things

Re: speed unacceptable

It actually used to be an 8GB allowance - we doubled it about 12-18 months back.
You might want to consider that there's no limits during off peak times of the day (midnight til 8am), where you could schedule some of the larger downloads if you wanted to.

Re: speed unacceptable

Jameseh  thanks for that ;but i dont do a lot of downloading mostly web browsing
Web 52%
Email 0%
Broadband phonecalls 3%
Gaming 3%
Streaming 9%
PlusNet FTP 0%
Peer-to-peer 1%
Usenet 0%
FTP (non PlusNet) 0%
Other 25%
Total usage so far 93%
Not sure what the "other" consists of? or the broadband phonecalls don't have that package?
maybe need a netmeter to keep an eye on things as it does seem high for what i do
Thanks for your feedback
