speed fault

I have had a question open for 4 or 5 days with no answer the question is about my internet speed,I had a constant speed of 5Mbps up to about a month ago then I had a line fault which caused noise on my line, this went off after about a week, I presume repaired by BT, the UP speed returned to normal after a couple of days but my DOWN speed is stuck at 3Mbps. I really could do with some help. Ted. .

Hi there,
As per the reply on the fault ticket last night it sounds like you might just need to reboot.
Let me know if there's still a problem after that and I'll take another look at this for you.

No, no problem now at the same time as you replied I had a sudden thought that I had not tried a reboot, as soon as I had reconnected after 10 mins the speed had recovered and there was your very good advice. Sorry about the problems which I should have seen , and thank you for your help. Ted
