speed faster with previous ISP

Now the training period is up Can someone please check the Profile on my line
With my previous ISP I was syncing at 9.537 kbps with speeds of up to 9.100
With Plus net I am currently syncing at 8.355 kbps with current speeds of

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Hi there,
I've just had a check and can't see any obvious issues.
I can see we sent you a new router recently, have you been able to try that yet?
Quote
How is that possible, when I was not given a chance to give any information etc ?Huh

It's because there's already a fault ticket open, however it looks to have been passed to a non-functional ticket pool for some reason.
Can you run a speed test for us at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and I'll get that ticket back over to our faults team.
If this post resolved your issue please click the 'This fixed my problem' button

Hi Adam
New router hasn't arrived yet, and will test as soon as it arrives
Thanks for picking this up
Download speed (Mbps): 7.19
Upload speed (Mbps): 0.36
Ping Latency (ms): 42.38
After running the Further diagnostics
It says My  IP Profile for your line is - 7.37 Mbps I was on 24snr 6db with my last ISP and syncing higher as stated in previous post

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Going to pick up the new router from my local sorting office, (would of been here Tuesday if it was not for an incompetent postie )
Will edit this post with stats etc prior to hooking up the new router, and changing the SSID  Tongue  Wink Smiley
Note:
Will have to reboot the router for optimised sync approx 09:30 - 10:30 AM
Ok peeps will catch you all in a bit  Smiley
In the meantime sit tight put feet up and chillax , with a nice beverage of your choosing  Smiley
New router here, and as promised the latest stats before swapping over

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Unsurprisingly, the two 582n routers performed pretty much the same. You could ask for the upstream speed to be uncapped.
A sync speed of over 8000 seems good for the 47.5 dB line attenuation, so probably the only way to get any more speed would be to have the target noise margin reduced to 3.
Did Plusnet make some silly promise guaranteeing that your speed would be the same or better or something like that?

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Hi ejs
TBH with my previous ISP I was syncing over 9 Mbps and
getting anywhere between 8.5 - 9.5 Mbps on their standard router(s)
And
11 - 12 Mbps on a netgear DGN2000 with tweaked settings courtesy of DGTeam Firmware
Yes PN did state to me prior to signing up that I would be getting slightly better speeds with PN
I had the line extensively checked by my previous ISP and BT, and many a possible fault(s) as BT calls them, fixed on my line for a speech clipping issue on my phone that was claimed unfixable, however that said now I have now moved to PN i am not getting the clipping issue, therefore would expect the connection to play nicer in accordance with the fixed issue.
Can you please explain more detail about the upstream to be uncapped, and how that would make a difference to my sync speed(s) ??
What profile range do PN use
is it along the lines of rules of 3 like my last ISP
IE:
3,6,9,12,15
I wa also wondering if a data port reset would cause the sync to play nicer on the line

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Your upstream speed is currently limited to 448k. Having it uncapped should increase your upstream speed to about 1Mbit. Your downstream speed should be unaffected.
The downstream target noise margins are 3,6,9,12 and 15.
There doesn't seem to be any particular problem or anything to suggest that something at the exchange needs to be reset. Different modem/routers will connect at slightly different speeds, if you still have the DGN2000 you could try that, although you should probably wait until tomorrow to avoid disconnecting/reconnecting too often.

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

I see the benefit(s) of having the upstream uncapped
Therefore
Should I start a new thread to uncap the uploads, as I do a lot of uploading, to various sites, including my own website,
I am getting a lot of error seconds on the line that PN csc analyst was and is concerned about, I think he said 29 in a 15 minutes

new router en route to customer for a separate issue.
Kind regards,

The seperate issue was in relation to my other thread What would cause TG582n to not connect with time server(s) (SOLVED) for which a different CSC analyst sent out the replacement router in the 1st instance

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your time on the phone to us today.
As discussed, you called about the time on the router not being correct. I have arranged for a replacement router to be sent out as you require the time to be correct for the disconnection logs.
We hope that this helps.

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Is anyone from plusnet going to help get this sorted
With my previous ISP I was syncing over 9Mbps at the router(s) their own basic and my trusty netgear, does this mean that the TG582n is not capable of syncing as high, or am I an the wrong profile etc
Please don't make me regret moving from my previous ISP
Here are the latest DSLstats and graphs for the replacement TG582n Router, prior to changing over and to test with my trusty Netgear DGN2000
I know I will get a lower sync rate in the evening therefore will restart DGN2000 at appropriate time tomorrow morning

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Who was the previous ISP? If they were BTw based then the only physical change is your router. If you have the one you were using before it's certainly worth trying that. The difference isn't great enough to suggest a fault imo.

Re: speed faster with previous ISP

Hi Digitalham
There maybe no fault as such, as I quote part of my last post
Quote
does this mean that the TG582n is not capable of syncing as high, or am I an the wrong profile etc

Either way there are far to many error seconds for both a CSC analyst and myself not to ignore tbh
My old ISP has their own equipment in the exchange
NetgearDGn2000 stats

System Up Time 02:36:39
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
WAN PPPoA 193 188 0 350 454 02:36:48
LAN 10M/100M 74131 58528 0 8039 1186 02:36:35
WLAN 11M/54M/270M 8145 1133 0 130 21 02:36:12
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7983 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.5 db 26.4 db
Noise Margin 6.3 db 18.9 db

Looking at the differences and taking into consideration of the lower sync rate margins that I expect to see in the evening, of at least 8900+ Kbps it seems like I am on the wrong profile, however that still does not explain the extreme error seconds on the line
I have managed to get  DSLstats to work with the DGN2000 and will post info and graphs etc shortly
Note:
DSLstats logs more info and graph the it does with the TG582n and will add / attach accordingly
