slow broadband speed - help plse!

First time with bband (plusnet) and only getting 0.47 download  against an estimated 2.5, this speed went up from 0.23 to 0.47 after 10 days.
Did all the usual stuff eg filters on all connections and ran a BT speedtest and diagnostics showing 0,47mbps and ip  profile of 0.51.(upload speed 0.47 and ping 40.38).
DSL connection data
type ITU-T G.992.3
Bandwidth up/down 443/576
dara transferred sent/received 118.08/871.14
line attenuation up/down 27.2 / 46.5
SN margin up/down 22.1 / 30.9
loss of framing local/remote 27/0
loss of signal local/remote  3 / 0
loss of power 0/0
error seconds 2.396 / 0
FEC errors up/down  0 / 0
CRC errors up/down 87 /1,897
HEC errors up/down 43 / 867
any help appreciated!

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

At a guess your line has been banded but I have no idea why
A thought - when you were first connected were there any unfiltered devices attached such as Sky Box as well as phones

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

Did I read that correctly
You put the filter in a day after the broadband went active and before that the phone was plugged in without a filter
If that is the case you have the following will probably have happened
In order to try get the broadband working  properly the automatic systems will have increased the default noise margin to 15dB and when that didn't solve the problem it will have capped the downstream speed to 576kbps (this is the effect of a banded line)
Can you resynch the router and if that doesn't solve the problem of the low sync speed then you will need to raise a ticket with Plusnet explaining that you had an unfiltered phone for the first day which has now been fixed and could they initiate a line retrain

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

Hi
Sorry, to be clear the main phone line into the router had a filter on before the router/broadband was switched on ; the phone extension didnt have a filter on until the next day ie 10 days ago.
Plusnet cleared the line 4 days ago, I think this is what they called a retrain!

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

Lets be really clear
Did the other phone connection have a phone attached without a filter or was it just an unused socket
Further questions
Do you have a master socket with a removable lower faceplate
I have never heard the term "cleared the line" used in the context of a retrain
From the router stats what is the reported up time

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

Yes, the other phone socket had/has a phone connected, without a filter for the first day; the phone is one of these radio ones you can walk about with!
The master socket faceplate has a removable lover half.
I may have misremembered the terminology, it was during a phonecall to the plusnet technical section,
the reported uptime as this afternoon was 4 days 8 hrs.
thanks again

In which case a full retrain is required.
I suggest leaving it until the Digital Care Team come on on Monday and let them sort it

Re: slow broadband speed - help plse!

You're only 4 days in, so those figures don't seem too bad. With the attenuation and SN margin figures you originally posted I would expect a change in another 4 days will give (at least?) 3.5Mbps - may even reach the giddy heights of 4.5Mbps  Undecided . This is, of course, based on my line which settled on such speeds at around 8 days - with 61dB attn and 4dB SN margin (it did then try 4Mbps for a day or so, but didn't like the error rate  Sad ).
