Re: sky on demand wireless connector

Is it picking up your LAN and not connecting to Sky's service or is it failing the first step?

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

Yeah you can
Have you made sure the broadband is turned on?

Is your Sky+ box's broadband network connection turned on?
Quote
Using the Sky remote, press the services button.
Press the select button.
Press the left/right arrow buttons to highlight Customise.
Press the select button.
Press the down arrow button to highlight Broadband Network Connection.
Press the left/right arrow buttons to change the setting to On.
Press the green button to save the settings.

And, then:

Follow these steps to ensure that you have established a connection with your wireless network:
Using the Sky remote, press the services button.
Press the left/right arrow buttons to highlight Settings.
Press the select button.
Press the left/right arrow buttons to highlight Network.
Press the select button. You will be shown a list of available wireless networks.
Press the up/down arrow buttons to highlight your wireless network.
Press the select button.
Enter your wireless network password using the number buttons on the Sky remote (there's more on how to do this in the "Entering your wireless network password" section below).
Follow the onscreen instructions to save the changes made.

Also, I think you need to make sure the on demand is activated for your box (from the Sky site)

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

I was wondering can you use a different broadband router to help solve problem? Or does it need to be a plusnet?

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

My Sky WiFi box has just been delivered, I will connect it soon I  will let you know how I get on.
I had on Demand connected before via homeplugs ,but it was on a different fuse box and connection was not very good.

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

Your router (I'm assuming 582N) should be just fine.
What steps have you taken so far? http://www.sky.com/products/__PDF/Wireless_Connector_Set_Up_Guide.pdf

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

I've had mine connected (wifi) for a few months. Wasn't very keen to connect to begin with - could see the network but unable to get a lease from dhcp.
I set it up with a fixed ip which worked fine straightaway. After it was connected and I was confident it worked ok I changed it back to dhcp experimentally and it's worked fine since so no idea what the original problem was.

Re: sky on demand wireless connector

Well mine connected with no problems, connecting was a little slow but it connected.
Are you getting lights on the wifi box?  Power should be white,  Wireless also white, and ethernet light on the back amber when link is detected (green for fast connection) no light no connection.
Im using Plusnet supplied router (Netgear DGN 2200)
