After waiting 20 mins on the phone to speak to someone which is now the norm with plusnet and being told they cant get me any more speed is a joke. They used to give me 1 mbt now I am down to 700 kbts totally useless. They want £25 to cancel my contract even though I was told the least speed I would get when I signed up would be 3.5 mbts. Its back to talktalk for me

Re: rubbish

Because you know how good their customer service is?  I would be very interested to learn what speed you get when you are back with TalkTalk.

Re: rubbish

Before you do anything, give the guys from the Digital Care Team a chance to help you out.
They frequent this forum on a regular basis and I'm sure they will be 'on the case' quite soon.

Re: rubbish

@thomasoes, what does this line checker say your speed should be? https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
Please paste all the info (but not your phone number!)

Re: rubbish

Reading through the troubles he's had here :
http://talktalkmembers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=79935
and here :

and here :

and his reluctance to go through the tests and post them on the forums ......
On another note, if he's had issues with TalkTalk, problems previously with BT and now issues with Plusnet I suspect he has some issues with his phone line.

Re: rubbish

Hmmm... Reading through that lot makes me think that that if he goes back to TalkTalk then Plusnet's gain will be TalkTalk's loss!

Re: rubbish

There may be one or two obscure ISPs that will sort out all your broadband problems without you having to lift a finger to help but they don't provide this service for the prices charged by Plusnet, BT or TalkTalk.

Re: rubbish

Hi thomasoes,
Sorry to hear that you've experienced slower speeds, I can see that our faults team have worked at trying to resolve this and unfortunately is seems the speeds you are currently getting are the maximum your line can currently support.

Re: rubbish

Chris,
Is that down to the line being very, very long or just very, very poor?
If it is the latter then someone needs to twist BTw's arm to fix the line - accepting the best of a bad bit of infrastructure is not acceptable.  BT are making good money - it needs to be spent on improving marginal areas.
Who do we the paying customers need to complain to / champion to have BT improve their infrastructure?  This users problems ( which he perceives to be a PN issue) is a good illustration of how all ISPs are hampered by the poor state of some BT lines.
Cheers,
Kevin

Maybe you should mind your own business you have no right to put links on this site to forums from talktalk so go and play with your toys

Re: rubbish

Careful thomasoes!
Without that post, I for one, would not be aware of your long running line problems. There may be something amiss that needs to be addressed, even if that just results in an explanation of why you have problems. It could be the distance from the exchange or, aluminium wiring, or a combination of the two. Those, sadly, are unlikely to be addressed quickly. You may be stuck with that!
Do you know how far you are from the exchange?
As BT control the wires it is up to them to sort it out. All any ISP can do is ask them!
Please do not use this forum to vent your dissatisfaction. You have already left BT and TT so it's no good threatening to go back. PN will not suddenly wave a magic wand just because you want to leave, and, the problem will remain.

Re: rubbish

It's due to the length of aluminum line to the property, we're currently checking over things to see if there's anything that can be done.
