Hi Oldjim
Now I know I'm being thick, but if I right click on the folder and go to properties, I have 3 tabs. "General", "Sharing" and "Customize" (sic)
None of them mention security.

You're not being thick - I am getting too used to running Vista.
Will now power up an XP machine to check - yup it's more difficult.
You need to boot in safe mode as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308421

Quote Note You must be logged on to the computer with an account that has administrative credentials. If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account that has Administrative rights to have access to the Security tab.

Hi OldJim
I tried this: Safe Mode - properties - security - check permissions - tick all the "allow" boxes.
Still won't let me delete! I think I'll just let it stay there. It's not particularly in the way, it's just irritating that Windows won't let me get rid of it.
