pushing the limit with internet radio....

I find I'm getting close to my limit since I aquired a couple of Internet radios. I'm currently on "Broadband Plus up to 8Mb" paying 8.99 a month after signing for 12 months (and a couple of referrals).
What's the next product up which will allow me to listen to the World without worrying about throttling?
BTW, TalkTalk has just come to my local exchange and it look very tempting at 40gb per month for £0. I've read all about their naff service but my son and two of his mates have been quite content with TT for the last few months now.

What kind of radio are you listening to? Is it just for interest? or for the News of a distant "home country"? If you want to listen to the world, you could invest about £100 on a decent Short Wave Radio, covering 0 to 30 mcs or Mhz , put up a "long wire" aerial (antenna) and you can listen to the world for free..... 24/7 and no gb limits.....

I'm online a lot between 0800-1600 (I'm retired) 
My last full month's usage looked like this....
Peak - 4.21GB. Offpeak -  8.55GB
TT is not an option for now, but I'll certainly have a look when my 12 month agreement runs out.

Gerry, I have a fairly good Shortwave plus radio - Grundig Yatchboy, but you can' listen to Internet Radio on that, it is a bit of a misnona since a large proportion of the 'stations' dont broadcast to the ethernet!! 
P.S. I dont have time to spare for internet radio, too busy watching what you are up to

Thanks for your interest. My use of the Internet radios is mainly to find a wide variety of specialised music stations, and to use the BBC's Listen Again output. I have a Revo Pico portable and a Logik IRMA1 linked into my domestic hi-fi. I doubt that the Short wave way is the way for me.

Do you turn your internet radios off (i.e disconnect them from the internet) when your're not listening?  One person I know used to leave his on all the time (he just turned the amp off) meaning that it was streaming from the net constantly and eating up bandwidth.
A few hours a day of streaming radio shouldn't eat up a lot data. 
Just a thought!

According to the figures in My Usage, I have used 4.8GB streaming so far this month, with 10 days still to go.

Thanks for that. I'll monitor my usage for the rest of this month before deciding, but that looks like my best option. I don't want to have to concern myself with usage when deciding whether or not to listen.
However, when the 12 months is up, the TT option might look good.

How many hours per day are you listening?
Also, going by those figures, BBYW option two with perhaps a couple of GB of extra bandwith added should cover your usage (assuming your other internet usage is just surfing, e-mail and the like).
You could try it PAYG to start with (which would give you extra should you need it at £1/GB).  Once you kno what you're using, you could then change to adding the usage in advance at 75p/GB.

BTW you are right in assuming that NONE of my offpeak usage is betwen 00:00 and 08:00. It's always disappointing to find that one is 'typical'

I'm rather interested to know (as a legacy BB+ user myself) if, given your peak usage of over 4GB, you experience any "throttling" on your speeds.
During the great BB+ debacle of just about a year ago, PN staff on the forum made us aware that we should expect performance reductions after about 1.5GB peak usage on BB+

Yes, I found my peaktime download speed reduced to a barely usable level, it was in kbps, not mbps. Fortunately when I passed the 4gb limit I was within 36 hours of the end of the month so the inconvenience didn't last long.
