Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

Ok Paulh,comments noted.
I did think of posting the info but unfortunately I'm just verging on a house move, which complicates things.
The move wont be far, same exchange  and distance from it , so I should get similar conditions.
I will investigate further when completed.
Other people in the district on Plusnet have similar problems , so it can't be blamed on individual lines.

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

@goberpiles @paulh, are you both on non-PRO products? I'm tempted to see if we can put you on a priority profile for a night or two so we can rule out the traffic management profiling as being a potential cause of the problem. Pro customers certainly shouldn't be having problems (although admittedly I have seen reports from one or two Pro customers tonight who are).

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

pcl-ag02 last night, between 19:30 and 21:00, on my AppleTV could not reliably get iPlayer started/running or watch trailers off iTunes without some buffering issues. Sad
BBYW1 account.

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

I only have two days of usage, on the VMBU tool right now, it shows 32% of my overnight usage is gaming, well i can tell you I was not gaming, but certainly utorrent was running.
I very much believe the Ellanoya signature is not catching p2p again, this could be contributing to the current  'slowdowns'. Sad

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

@godsell4, what P2P app are you using and was *any* of your overnight usage attributed to Peer to Peer or did it *all* show up as gaming?

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

Bob,
uTorrent 1.8.4 was the app, there was 2.3GB of free/overnight usage in the last two days ... it was as far as I can tell 100% p2p, with 32% of it showing as Gaming hence Titanium and appearing to download really very quickly! Wink

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

OK, as long as it wasn't *all* attributed to gaming. We do have to tread a fine line with this type of thing as it's better to incorrectly classify a proportion of Bit Torrent traffic as opposed to cripple traffic for a subset of games.

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

OK, Bob, the 32% of usage shown as Gaming was actually P2P ... I'd say  that's a problem for PN, especially if that person was on an Unlimited account.

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

It would be a problem for the gamers playing the games the UDP ports relate to though if we were to start classifying the traffic as P2P Wink

Re: problem with broadband speed (not just pcl-ag04)

Got disconnected about 4pm, now on  ptn-ag1
very slow pageloads tonight and speedtests very much lower to what I've been getting -- between 1 and 3 as against 6 -- and some very long pings and traceroutes.

Yeah - We're not done.
Looking at disconnecting a bigger number of people overnight.
